Famed war-era spy, Christine Granville, the woman known as Churchill’s favorite spy, is the focus of a new film project. In reality, Granville was actually a Polish countess named Krystyna Skarbek. She was awarded The George Medal for her work with Britain’s Special Operations Executive.

As for her connection to James Bond – she was one of Ian Fleming’s lovers, and long believed to be the inspiration for Casino Royale’s Vesper Lynd.
