THERE IS NO LIFE ON MARS!

THERE IS NO LIFE ON MARS!

ABC has announce the cancellation of the American version of Life on Mars ~ based on the British series of the same name ~ in which (in the American version) New York City police detective, Sam Tyler, is flung back in time after being the victim of a hit and run in 2009.

Apparently, ABC will allow Life On Mars to “complete its 17-episode freshman series order with the season finale written as a series finale that will wrap the loose story ends, explain how Tyler got transported back in time, and (maybe) bring him back to his own time.”

This is actually too bad as I felt the show was just beginning to come into its own. Still, Ashes To Ashes, the British sequel to its own version of Life On Mars, starts Saturday on BBC America.

I wonder if there are just too many series like this on right now to catch viewers' attention. I saw the preview of Ashes to Ashes and it reminded me why the British series worked better. The supporting cast just seemed more authentic.
