THE SAINT RETURNS?

THE SAINT RETURNS?

The website
www.broadcastnow.co.uk has announced that a Canadian production company is set to bring back Leslie Charteris’ iconic character The Saint to television.

Vancouver-based indie Brightlight Pictures has confirmed it is scheduled to film a pilot episode of the series later this autumn, even though it has yet to approach UK broadcasters about the project.

Scottish actor Dougray Scott is apparently in ongoing negotiations with Brightlight over the title role, but is thought to be close to an agreement.

Roger Moore says he will be playing a small role in the show. That means this is possibly the "Son of the Saint" concept jettison in favor of "The Return of the Saint" back in the 70's with Ian Ogilvy. Moore son is an exec producer. Originally Tom Fontana and Barry Levinson were attached to the project with James Purefoy cast as the Saint. They dumped the show in favor of "The Philantropist" on NBC which the network dumped as a late Summer replacement series. Here's hoping this new company retains the character from the books and not from the Kilmer movie.

Also, it is rumored he will be driving a very sporty, green car.

But this ain't your Earth mother's Prius.

It's not the Son of the Saint.

The main forces behind the proposed Purefoy Saint were Bill MacDonald and Geoffrey Moore--who are still very much the driving force behind this pilot.

That's good because I never really liked the Son of the Saint idea.
