DYNAMITE ~ THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY #1!

From the classic movie, the Good, The Bad, and The Ugly! The Man with No Name rides again, this time under the veteran hand of writer Chuck (G.I.Joe) Dixon in a brand-new Dynamite #1!

Featuring incredible art by Esteve Polls, and ICONic covers by Wolverine Noir artist, Dennis Calero, Lone Ranger artist, Sergio Cariello and Zorro artist, Francesco Francavilla, Dixon tells the tale of "DEAD MAN'S HAND" in a five part arc that continues the strong direction for which Dynamite's westerns are known!

THE HORNET IS BACK!

THE HORNET IS BACK!

Kevin Smith to write the iconic character, The Green Hornet, for Dynamite Entertainment!

Following up on Dynamite Entertainment's announcement that they had completed a comprehensive comic book publishing deal to bring the Green Hornet back to comics! Dynamite currently has plans to introduce the new comic book adventures starring the Hornet (and Kato of course)!

"This one has been a long time coming and the good news there is that it's allowed us to put all the pieces in place to make this launch one of the biggest we've ever had," stated Dynamite President and Publisher Nick Barrucci. "The creative talent line-up includes Kevin Smith writing with Alex Ross, John Cassaday, David Finch and more to be announced!"

About the talent line-up, Dynamite has both Alex Ross and John Cassaday with David Finch on board to produce the #1 covers with a surprise cover artist. John Cassaday will be the regular series cover artist. "There are more "BIG" announcements coming soon," being the only other piece of information offered by Barrucci.

The Green Hornet has appeared in comics, starred on radio and TV and remains one of the most popular and iconic super heroes of our time. Through most of his various incarnations the Green Hornet is Britt Reid, a newspaper publisher by day, who by night goes out in his masked Green Hornet identity to fight crime as a vigilante, accompanied by his similarly masked Asian manservant Kato and driving a car, equipped with advanced technology, called Black Beauty.

Further details of the release will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.

PULP HEROES - MORE THAN MORTAL!

PULP HEROES - MORE THAN MORTAL!

Pulp Heroes - More Than Mortal is an epic adventure spanning two centuries in time and linking the incredible lives of history’s most popular Victorian Age adventurers of the 1800’s with the greatest action heroes of the Pulp Era and an assortment of well-known, real-life figures.

In this completely original action film story, four champions of justice, Doc Titan - The Ultimate Man, The Darkness - The Master of Shadows, Guardian - Steel and Ice Justice, and The Scorpion - The Deadliest Man Alive, are brought together for the first time to battle a deadly threat and save the Earth and mankind from absolute destruction.

The story also features famous fictional characters from Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Around the World in 80 Days, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly's Frankenstein, Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes and Professor Challenger series, Chester Hawks' Captain Hazzard, J.H. Rosny’s Ironcastle, John W. Campbell’s Who Goes There?/Thing from Another World, H. Rider Haggard's Allan Quatermain, Philip Wylie's Savage Gentleman and Gladiator, and many more.

Pulp Heroes - More Than Mortal is a fast-paced chronicle about relationships between humorous and entertaining characters. It's a story about daring adventure. About fathers and sons. Unexpected storyline twists. Secrets revealed and more secrets exposed. The passing of the heroic baton. It’s about how everyone is linked in some way and how actions in the past affect the present. It’s not about their abilities that show who these heroes are; it’s about the choices they make. Above all, it's an action-packed thrill ride.

And, most importantly, it’s a story about great adventure heroes and heroines.

Set in 1945, the beginning of the massive story reads like a standard pulp action-adventure magazine, in the vein of the great pulp heroes. However, the story soon travels around the world and, utilizing a series of well-timed flashbacks, travels 150 years backward through time. And as the adventure continues, the heroes soon discover that there are many dark and dangerous secrets that have been kept from them and the world at large. Secrets that could destroy them all. And, perhaps, the Earth itself.

What is the link between the great detective Sherlock Holmes, Frankenstein’s immortal monster, Canadian Ned Land, and other Victorian heroes, the heroes of the pulp era, and the modern day costumed superhero?

Who are Council of Elders and the mysterious Illuminati?

What is the secret of the legendary Arctic region called Sanctuary, a land of myth and legends?

What is the hidden link between the four heroes, the legendary Russian mystic Rasputin and the savage serial killer known only as Jack the Ripper?

Together, they face an enemy unlike anything they’ve seen before.

What will they have to sacrifice to succeed?

Who will survive?

They were … PULP HEROES!!

Although
Pulp Heroes - More Than Mortal is a self-contained story, painted in bold sweeping strokes, Pulp Heroes - The Khan Dynasty and Pulp Heroes - Sanctuary Falls continues and concludes this massive three-part trilogy.

FORGOTTEN BOOKS ~ LYNX BY JULIAN JAY SAVARIN!

FORGOTTEN BOOKS ~ LYNX BY JULIAN JAY SAVARIN!

The literary brother of the 1984 – 1987 Airwolf television series (starring Ernest Borgnine and a pre-complete burnout Jan-Michael Vincent and created by Donald Bellisario), Lynx (published in 1984), like Airwolf, featured a “helicopter that could loop and roll without falling out of the sky.” What Lynx has over Airwolf, however, is the skymaster writing of Julian Jay Savarin. I don’t believe the two had any connection beyond serendipity, but they are very much from the same mold.

Prior to taking up air warfare action, Savarin (who was born in Dominica and grew up in Great Britain) was a musician and sci-fi writer, but it was his series of action thrillers featuring the individual exploits of secret agent Gordon Gallagher and ex-RAF Phantom pilot where he found his greatest success. Gallagher is an excellent lead character in the James Bond mould, whilst Pross is an accomplished pilot of helicopter gunships.

Grounded with a family life and business interests, Pross is the lead character in Lynx. He is made different than other lead characters due to his dual persona – as an individual he is mild mannered and fairly timid, but piloting a gunship, he is an amazing and ruthless pilot.

Pross is a helicopter pilot: the best. But his charter company is heading for financial disaster.

When a sinister pair of strangers make a huge offer for a highly illegal rescue, he is tempted but refuses – until he knows the identity of the man to be lifted out.

He knows he is headed straight for trouble – and the trouble is fast and lethal. Pross has to muster all his old skills, not just to get the job done, but to stay alive.

I’ve read most of Savarin’s fifteen or more novels and have enjoyed each of them over the years. If you haven’t read him before, Lynx is a great place to start.

STEP BY STEP: A PEDESTRIAN MEMOIR!

STEP BY STEP: A PEDESTRIAN MEMOIR!

Before Lawrence Block was the author of bestselling novels, he was a walker. As a child, he walked home from school. As a college student, he walked until he was able to buy his first car. As an adult, he ran marathons until he discovered what would become a lifelong obsession — never mind if some people didn’t think it was a real sport — racewalking.

By that time Block had already spent plenty of time walking through the city of New York. But racewalking ended up taking him all over the country, from New Orleans to Anchorage, from marathons in the punishing heat to marathons in the pouring rain. And along the way, he found that in life, as in writing, you just need to take one step after the other.

Available in June.

CHRISTIE DOES IT AGAIN!

CHRISTIE DOES IT AGAIN!

For the first time ever you can buy the complete Miss Marple - all 12 novels and 20 short stories - in one extraordinary Guinness World Record breaking volume. With over 4,000 pages, this is a beautifully made book and a feat of engineering - truly worthy of our favourite female detective. Only 500 copies have been printed so if you buy this book you will become a part of a very exclusive Christie club!

Over a year in the making, this book has come to mean so much to those who have been a part of its creation. For Mathew Prichard, (who has already bought his copy) this book fulfils a lifelong ambition to see all of his grandmother's stories about Miss Marple in a single volume. "So whilst this volume is, in publishing terms, a landmark event, it also symbolises the great affection the public, both in Britain and elsewhere, have for Miss Marple. And with everything finally in one book, we hope that people may even find a story or two they have not yet read!"

The complete Miss Marple contains all Christie's stories in chronological order: 43 murders, 68 crimes, 59 red herrings, 11 philandering lovers, 68 lies, 22 false accusations and 143 cups of tea. There's also a new map of St Mary Mead based on Christie's descriptions, a preface by Mathew Prichard and an introduction by Kate Mosse, author of Labyrinth and lifelong Christie fan. The book is handsewn, bound in leather, blocked in gold on the front and spine, and has four silk markers to keep your place. It will come in a suede-lined wooden box with its own Guinness certificate. It is completely readable!

Christie of course has already broken two world records - she's the biggest selling novelist in the world, having sold over two billion books and wrote the longest-running play in the world - The Mousetrap - but we think this third world record is truly remarkable and hope you do too!

If you would like to know more about the book please go to our website:

Or if you would like to order a copy, retailing at £1000, please call +44 (0)844 576 8112 or email weborders@harpercollins.co.uk and quote “Agatha Christie Newsletter.”

SHERLOCK HOLMES TRAILER!

Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country.

EVEN ~ ANDREW GRANT!

EVEN ~ ANDREW GRANT!

Fellow C.O.B.R.A.S. will be interested in this new espionage laced tale – a debut novel from Andrew Grant, the younger brother to bestselling author Lee Child of Jack Reacher fame.

David Trevellyan takes a lonely late-night walk between a restaurant and his New York City hotel. A familiar huddled shape in the mouth of an alley catches his eye. A homeless man has been shot to death. Trevellyan steps forward...and a police car arrives.

A split second too late, Trevellyan realizes he's been set up.

But Trevellyan isn't worried. He's a survivor from the shadowy world of Royal Navy Intelligence. Used to working undercover—sometimes with the approval of his masters, and sometimes not—he's been in and out of trouble a thousand times before. But the NYPD quickly hands the problem to the FBI. Trevellyan is sucked deeper into the system.

And just when he needs them most, his bosses in London turn their backs.

Obliged to clear his name, he acts alone. With no idea who's a friend and who's a foe, he penetrates deep into a huge international conspiracy. The price of failure will be death, and the reward for success will be redemption, both for himself and the huddled corpse from the alley. The motivation will be his cherished life-long belief:

You don't get mad—you get EVEN.

The CENTRAL CRIME ZONE BLOG has a posted a good interview with Grant . . .

Jon Jordan: Even comes out May 12th, is this the first book you wrote, or the first one you sold?

Andrew Grant: Both!

JJ: How long did it take to write EVEN?

AG: The basic ideas for EVEN were taking shape in my head for a couple of years before I quit my job, but once I was ‘free’ it took me almost exactly eight months to write the book.

JJ: It feels like a series to me, is that the case?

AG: Yes. Right from the outset EVEN was conceived as the first in a long-running series. I hope the world will want to see a lot more of David Trevellyan…

JJ: How did you decide on the type of character to write? Is it based on what you enjoy reading and watching?

AG: Every decision relating to EVEN was based on what I like to read. My plan was simple - to put in lots of the things that I enjoy in thrillers, and none of the things that I don’t.

THE STUDY BALL!

HAVING TROUBLE GETTING YOUR KIDS TO DO THEIR HOMEWORK, OR KEEPING TO YOUR OWN WRITING SCHEDULE? HERE'S A SOLUTION . . .

How many times have you begun to study for an exam and after 30 minutes get distracted and move on to doing something else, and at the end you are left with no other choice but to stay up all night studying for that final at 8:00 am? Well, Study Ball is here to solve the problem.

The Study Ball gadget is a prison-style ball and chain that you can program to keep track of how much time you spend studying. Once you’ve selected the desired duration, you chain the ball to your ankle and the manacle won’t come off until the schedule study time is up.A red LED indicator displays the “Study Time Left“ and keeps you informed as to how much longer you’ve got to keep studying. The ball and chain are made of highly durable steel and weighs a total of 9.5 kg / 20.95 pounds, which makes it difficult to move while wearing it.

For safety, the Study Ball cannot be programmed for more than 4 hours. Minors should not use it unless supervised by an adult. It comes with a safety key for emergency deactivation.
