FORGOTTEN BOOKS: THE BLACK SWAN SERIES!

FORGOTTEN BOOKS: THE BLACK SWAN SERIES!

J. J. MONTAGUE (AKA: JAMES KEENAN)

I first picked up this series as a teen because the beautiful female heroine secret agent shared my last name – I have no idea now why I thought that was so cool, but I do remember thinking it was so at the time.

Shauna Bishop, code name The Black Swan, freelances as an operative for Section K. Her specialty is seduction, a skill she applies with abandon in an effort to influence independent nations to favor the United States – Hey, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do . . .

THE CHINESE KISS

America’s espionage chiefs gamble on the success of a single, highly trained female agent.  They underestimated the strength and cunning of the enemy force she faced!

THE CONG KISS

Shauna sent out a desperate S.O.S. to anyone who might hear it – because the dope smuggling ring she was fighting had turned out to be a cover for a plot to wipe out the U.S.A.!

THE FRENCH KISS

Shauna’s Mid-East mission could mean the difference between world peace and disaster – but she was all alone, with no way to tell enemies from friends!

THE JUDAS KISS

One agent was dead. Two others had vanished. Now it was Shauna Bishop’s job to find the enemy who could cut off America’s major oil supply.

The mid-seventies series didn’t exactly have the same impact or sales as The Baronness or Eve Drum. The Black Swan series is a Forgotten Books entry more out of nostalgia than quality. I don’t think I could face reading any of the titles again.

Nice covers, though!

Nice covers, indeed! This is another series that seems to have missed being distributed in this part of the country.

Leisure Books in the '70s was a very low-profile outfit...I was mostly aware of them because they did a Robert Bloch paperback or two. I definitely would've given those a flip-through if I'd come across them...
