A thirty-five year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department, Paul Bishop’s career has included a three year tour as an interrogator with his department's Anti-Terrorist Division and over twenty-five years’ experience in the investigation of sex crimes. His Special Assaults Units regularly produced the highest number of detective initiated arrests and highest crime clearance rates in the city. Twice honored as Detective of the Year, Paul has also received the Quality and Productivity Commission Award from the City of Los Angeles.
As a nationally recognized interrogator, Paul co-starred with his professional partner, bestselling author and prosecutor, Mary Hanlon Stone, as the regular interrogators and driving force behind the recent ABC reality show Take The Money And Run from producers Bertram Van Munster and Jerry Bruckheimer.
His interview and interrogation seminar, Dancing With Pinocchio, is designed for law enforcement, military, human resource, legal organizations, and other entities concerned with deception detection. Paul is also sought out as deception consultant, a motivational speaker, and as a writing teacher.
A prolific writer, Paul’s novels include Hot Pursuit, Deep Water, Penalty Shot, Suspicious Minds, the short story collection Running Wylde, and five novels in his L.A.P.D. Detective Fey Croaker series – Croaker: Kill Me Again, Croaker: Grave Sins, Croaker: Tequila Mockingbird, Croaker: Chalk Whispers, and Croaker: Pattern of Behavior. All his novels have recently been re-released in all e-book formats.
Paul has also written feature film scripts and numerous episodic scripts for television, including such shows as Diagnosis: Murder, LA Dragnet, The New Detectives, and Navy Seals: The Untold Stories.
The Los Angeles Times has called Paul ‘the closest equivalent of Joe Wambaugh yet,’ and stated Hot Pursuit ‘could hardly be better.’ The New York Times proclaimed him a ‘first-class writer,’ and called Deep Water a ‘lively, bloody adventure.’ Publishers' Weekly cited Croaker: Kill Me Again, as ‘gripping, intense, labyrinthine, complex, and compelling.’ And author Dominick Dunne declared Croaker: Grave Sins to be a ‘tough, taut, terrific tale!’
Paul’s new novel, Fight Card: Felony Fists (written as Jack Tunney), has just been released.
